Football icon and philanthropist Michael “Pinball” Clemons will speak at the celebration of the Private Capital Markets Association (PCMA) and National Exempt Market Association (NEMA) merger.
Known for his sporting excellence and community leadership, Clemons is a pro-football world record holder in all-purpose yards, a feat rewarded by a place in the CFL Hall of Fame. He was also an economics graduate and started a foundation that has built more than 200 schools in third-world countries.
With his dedication to social work, he received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for service to the community.
Clemons is also an acclaimed author, an entrepreneur, and a member of the distinguished Order of Ontario.
Clemons will speak before the attendees of the Celebrating One Industry Voice: Recognizing the leaders of the PCMA/NEMA merger event on April 11.
“We are very pleased and fortunate to have such an exemplary role model and dynamic personality as our speaker for the event,” PCMA chair Doug Bedard said.
The event will celebrate the formation of the largest private capital markets community in the country.
“We couldn’t think of a better way to launch the long-anticipated industry merger with NEMA than to have Michael Clemons inspire and energize us with his contagious zeal for life,” PCMA executive director Georgina Blanas said.
Founder and president of NEMA Craig Skauge said: “I’m extremely excited for the first ever event that will see our entire industry unite as one and can’t think of a more symbolic speaker than Pinball. He is a classic example of the value of teamwork and dedication to a vision, which is what this event is all about.”
